Obituary
Dey, Marilyn Margret, of Saginaw Twp., MI passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 68 years old. Marilyn Margret Dey was born on August 27, 1946 in Saginaw, MI to Clayton L. Sr. and Marilyn M. (Bernthal) Dey. She graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1964, and then furthered her education at Central Michigan University graduating in 1968 with her Bachelors of Arts in Education. Following her graduation she taught elementary school for the Bridgeport Spaulding School District retiring in 2007. Marilyn was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Andrew, SS. Peter and Paul and St. Thomas especially enjoyed spending time with children. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn M. Dey; a close friend, Corey; siblings: Judy Knopic, Laura (Jim) Pache, Clayton Jr. (Sandy), Timothy (Sue), John (Andrea), Elizabeth (Dan) Doud, Justin (Jean), Andrew (Kathy), Jeanette (Jim) Oswald, Anita Dey and James (Janet) Dey; 26 nieces and nephews; 22 great nieces and great nephews; aunts, Elaine Pumford and Lucy Bernthal. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Clayton L. Dey Sr.; brother-in-law, John Knopic; and nephew, Benjamin Doud. FUNERAL: Marilyn's funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard A. Bokinskie will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with Marilyn's family on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 3:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State). Marilyn will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to Ss. Peter and Paul Food Pantry, Emmaus House or the Serra Club of Saginaw. Miss Dey was such a sweet soul. She was my second grade teacher at Harvey Kaufman in 1970. She taught my sister the following year. Many years later, I was thrilled to discover she would also teach both of my boys in the 90s. She was a wonderful, caring lady. I'm certain she made a lasting impression in many young lives. I know she did mine.

Marilyn would walk by our house daily as she was on her way to visit her mother. When the weather was bad I would drive her back to her home. Oftentimes she would not come with me saying she enjoyed the walk. We have not seen her for quite a while. She came to my mind last week and I prayed for her. Now just days later we see her obituary. She always made folks smile. She was kind and gentle. Our sons did not have her as their teacher but we remember her at Brucker school in Bridgeport.

Mrs. Dey was my elementary school teacher. I will always remember her having such a kind soul and a ambitious drive to teach us to the best of her ability. Mrs. Dey's memory will live on as being one of the best teachers with such a kind heart and a memorable drive to do her very best with her students. Much love and sympathy goes out to all her family and friends. She will be missed!
