Obituary
DETZLER, Marian L. of Saginaw Township, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center. She was 93 years old. Marian Lyn Detzler was born on January 15, 1921 in Midland, Michigan to the late Herman Henry and Cora (Somerville) Winkler. She married Arnice J. Detzler on July 26, 1945 and they celebrated 69 years of marriage; he survives her. Marian was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and boating. Surviving besides her husband are her son, Lyn O'Day and wife, Tari Elaine (Trimble) Detzler and grandson, Aric Jay Detzler. Marian was preceded in death by her two sisters and two brothers: Ruth (Winkler) Anderson, Jeanne Lee (Winkler) Koch, Herman Henry Winkler III, and Thom R. Winkler, sister-in-law, Pearl Maxine (Detzler) Behm. Per Marian's request, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the First Congregational Church, 403 S Jefferson Ave, Saginaw, MI 48607. Aunt Marion was a wonderful, godly woman. So thoughtful, so full of her love for our Lord. When I was newly married we found an upstairs apartment. She made us curtains for all the windows in it. Amazing. When our baby girl was in the hospital she came & sat with us while she was in surgery. She was very classy, gentle, a wonderful cook, I loved & wanted all her cookie recipes. Loved her family & us so much. Heaven is so rejoicing which helps our sadness. She was strong, wise, gracious hostess. She will be missed. Her niece, Sharon

It is with great sadness that I write this following knowledge of your loss. Your folks were fixtures in my life, always at the Club, always super friendly and always making the Club a better place. They were a part of my long ago youth, and always a huge part of my summer and the club. I will miss your mother and please give my sympathy to your Dad and prayers are with you.
