Esther Turner

TURNER, Esther B. of Ithaca, New York, previously of Saginaw, Michigan and Tower, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Longview Assisted Living Center, Ithaca, New York. She was 99.5 years old. Esther B. Covell was born in Tower, Michigan on October 29, 1914 to the late Frank and Albina (Gokee) Covell. Esther married Roy E. Turner in August 1933; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1976. She graduated from Onaway High School and later attended Bay City Business College. She was then employed by Draper Chevrolet for 40 years. Esther volunteered at Saginaw General Hospital for many years, was a member of Countryside Trinity Church, and enjoyed her dog, Max. Surviving are her two grandchildren: Karin (Hurlbert) Wikoff of Genoa, NY and Tod Hurlbert of West Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and her daughter, Judy (Turner) Hurlbert on April 25, 2014. Esther has been interred at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to an animal rescue of the donor's choice.
