Maria Martinez

MARTINEZ, Maria Antonieta "Tonia" of Saginaw, Michigan, formerly of Sabinal, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison, with her family by her side. She was 55 years old. Maria Antonieta Martinez was born on December 26, 1958 in Sabinal, Texas to the late Lupe Martinez. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Maria was very artistic, and enjoyed sketching, drawing and coloring. She was a BINGO fanatic. Maria also loved going to the casino, listening to music and treasured her collection of "pigs". Above all, she was a generous, kindhearted and helpful soul loved by all. She is survived by a special niece, Stephanie A. Garcia of Saginaw; niece, Lauda (Ray) Martinez-Wheeler of Florida, special best friend, Sandy Bland of Saginaw; special cousin, Lisa (Tomas) Olivarez of Saginaw; and a sister-in-law, Yolanda Martinez of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lupe; two brothers: Joe and Frank Martinez; and a sister, Anita Dominessey. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Maria will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
