Obituary
HOWLEY, Rita Bernice of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Francis Home of Saginaw. She was 92 years old. Rita Bernice Kowalski was born on November 23, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Victoria (Novak) Kowalski. She married Ronald V. Howley on August 25, 1943 in Vallejo, California; he preceded her in death. Rita graduated from Saginaw High School. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and in her spare time, she enjoyed golfing and watching the Detroit Tigers. Most of all, Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Surviving are a daughter and a son: Sally Schaar and Patrick (Karen) Howley; four grandchildren: Colliene (Dan) Willison, Todd (Sadie) Cowper, Terra (Peter) Olgine, and Eric Howley; eight great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Mia, Molly, Chase, Mateo, Lily, Logan, and Eden; brother, Ron (Mona) Kowalski; and two sisters-in-law: Polly Kowalski and Fran Howley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years, Ronald; four sisters: Virginia, Lucille, Loraine, and Romaine; brother, Gerald; and son-in-law, Charlie Schaar. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Francis Home for the loving care given to Rita. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy celebrating Rita's life will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles. Rev. Fr. Ronald F. Wagner will officiate. According to Rita's wishes, cremation has taken place and final inurnment will be at Chapel Hill Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at St. Helen Catholic Church on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Helen Catholic Church or St. Francis Home of Saginaw, 915 N. River Rd, Saginaw MI 48609. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
