Obituary
LaPlante, Jocelyn N. (Jolly) of Saginaw, Michigan, formerly of Auburn, New York, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. She was 85 years old. Jocelyn was born on February 12, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Homer and Frances Marie (Fordyce) Loyster. She married Walter LaPlante on September 1, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and Central Michigan University. She was employed by the Saginaw Township Schools, teaching English. She retired in 1990. Jocelyn was a member of Michigan Teachers Association, and Central Michigan Alumni. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and most of all spending time with her loving family. Surviving are her husband, Walter, two sons: Zachary LaPlante of Rochester Hills, Garth (Peggy) LaPlante of Saginaw. Two daughters: Michelle (Paul) Flynn of Knoxville, Tenn., Melissa (Duane) Furtaw of Spring Hill, Tenn. Also surviving are grandchildren: Heather LaPlante of Sun Prairie, Wis., Carolyn (John) Lauckner of East Lansing, Jaime Furtaw, Michelle Furtaw both of Spring Hill, Tenn., Sean Flynn of Knoxville, Tenn., Renee (CJ) Szafir of Milwaukee, Wis. and Dayna LaPlante of Chicago, Ill. Jocelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanne Marie (Loyster) Donhaiser. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Pastor Paul Hinz will officiate. Cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Zauel Memorial Library 3100 N. Center Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603 or Cartwright Hospice Residence 3443 Hospital Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I will always remember their summer pool parties and how much fun she was. Jolly was such a good friend when my mom was ill and was always just a lovely lady. I will always remember her kindness and beautiful smile. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
