Suzanne Kelley

Kelley, Suzanne Foraker, Saginaw Township, Michigan. Suzanne passed away suddenly Sunday, December 15, 2013, due to stroke complications, with her loving family by her side. She was 82 years old. Suzanne Foraker was born May 29, 1931, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the eldest daughter of the late Dow Karl and Ruth Melba Foraker. She was a Home Economics major, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan State University in June of 1953. She was married to Jack A. Kelley, October 3, 1953, in Detroit, MI. Her degree allowed her to become a school teacher first in St. Clair Shores and then in Saginaw, following the family's relocation in 1961. In 1972, following her teaching career, she and her husband, Jack, opened Kelley Glass Company and worked out of their home until they moved the business to the current S. Michigan location, in 1977. They ran Kelley Glass together for 35 years. Jack predeceased her May 21, 2001. Suzanne was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and the Home Builders Association of Saginaw and has been named an honorary life member. Sue was extremely active for her age. She enjoyed her immediate family, her cottage family, many friends, and gardening but most importantly her cats. Surviving are her loving daughters and their families: Kimberly Garris and her children, Jessica, Matthew and Jacob, Traverse City, MI; Kirsten Leichner (Victor M.) and their son, Victor A., Saginaw Township, MI; Katherine Chesney (the late Richard A. Jr.) and their sons, Christopher (Tracey) and their children, Marissa and Christopher Jr., Bay City, MI; Matthew and his fiancée, Angie, Saginaw, MI. Also surviving are Suzanne's sister, Sandra (Leo) Potrykus, Falls City, TX; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and faithful employee, Greg (Pat) DeMaet, who has been like a son to Suzanne. Suzanne's family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and compassionate care given to her during her final days at Cartwright Hospice Residence. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway. Pastor Kathleen Basner will officiate. Private burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Suzanne will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
