Dora (Grew) Ehlers Mikek MIKEK, Dora of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. She was 93 years old. Dora Grew was born on December 6, 1919 in Garfield Township, Michigan to the late Joseph and Lydia (Densmore) Grew. Dora spent her life as a cosmetologist, working in both Bay City and Saginaw. She was a member of Ames Methodist Church, the Saginaw Artist Guild, and the YWCA. In her spare time she enjoyed painting and was a very talented artist. Surviving are ten nieces and nephews: Joseph Rocheleau, Donna (James) Luplow, Janet (Robert) Calamari, Sally Tate, Judy Smith, Patricia (Jerry) Dixon, Keith "Buck" Grew, Nancy Herzberg, Don (Lynn) Grew, and Ken Grew; daughter-in-law, Diane Ehlers; and special friends: Gerald and Mary Maki, Irene Giroux, and Vera Houck. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William Ehlers; second husband, Andrew Mikek; son, William D. Ehlers; and five siblings: Dorothy Rocheleau, Dolphus Grew, Donelda Grew, Morrice Grew, and Delor Grew. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street. Rev. Mark A. Karls will officiate. Burial will take place in Garfield Township Cemetery at a later date. Per Dora's wishes, cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Ames United Methodist Church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State St., Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (Off State). I will miss Doris so much. She is so treasured by our entire family. I think of her as a mother ,enjoyed talking to her on the phone, visiting her beautiful home, always so welcoming. She was the kindest, most lovely Christian lady helping so many that crossed her path. She was a good example to many and I thought of her as a classy lady with a charm that was so attractive. We love her deeply and will cherish her memory. We will look forward to seeing her again in Heaven where she will be with her Lord and Saviour.

Andy and I were so blessed to have had Doris in our lives, even for the short time that we reconnected. She was as lovely inside and she was outside and. I talked to her on the phone Sunday morning at 9 a.m., the day she went home to be with the Lord. She encouraged me with her words and her faith and I have NO doubt we will meet again. I am going to miss the friendship I was imagining but the angels are rejoicing now. Love and prayers to all her family...Andrew and Sarah Mikek

Doris was very active in her younger years, not that long ago, in the Saginaw Artist Guild. She was a member almost 50 years helping with four Galleries, volunteering her time and talents. She was an accomplished artist and thoroughly enjoyed her craft. She had not attended meetings lately as she wasn't feeling well but did attend our October meeting. We were all so glad to see her and we all had hugs and a nice visit. We will miss her smile, her enthusiasm and her loving care. Our Guild at todays meeting recalled memories of Doris and we held moments of silence in her honor. She will be sadly missed. Pat Yockey - Saginaw Artist Guild

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Doris. Art and I were honored to be considered her 'friends'. She was truly a beautiful and talented person. Her deep love and interest in God's Word the Bible made her an example to imitate. We look forward to the fulfillment of John 5:28, 29 when 'all those in the memorial tombs will hear' our Lord's voice and come out to a resurrection of life in paradise.
