Stephen Rank

RANK, Stephen E. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home with his loving wife, children and dogs by his side. He was 57 years old. Stephen E. Rank was born on March 3, 1956 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Jack Eugene Rank M.D. and Susan Elinor (Spaulding) Rank. He married the love of his life, Susan Anne Gilliland on September 11, 1976. Steve was a graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School, class of 1974. He was employed by General Motors as a millwright, retiring in April 2008 with over 30 years of service. Steve enjoyed camping at Boundary Waters and Grass Lake with his best friend Dan McKillop, music and animals. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, son and friend. He will always be remembered for being a generous, kind and thoughtful man. Steve had a particular presence about him making sure everyone was taken care of without needing any recognition. He never lost his "inner child"; from playing the best Santa, to Bohican sundaes, his heart was truly filled with love. Surviving are his beloved wife, Susan; children: Benjamin, Heather and Jason; grandchildren: Wyatt and Shelby; father, Eugene M.D. and Jan Rank; mother, Susan Rank; brothers: David and Andrew (Wendy) Rank; mother-in-law, Ellen Gilliland; sister-in-law, Janet Gilliland; nephews and a niece, Alex, Nathan, Sarah and Matthew; and two adored dogs, Sophie and Bailey. Also surviving are many additional family and friends. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Honoring Stephen's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned.
