KRUSE, Louis Irving of Saginaw, Michigan but wintered in West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 98 years old. Louis Irving Kruse was born on April 8, 1915 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Irving and Orpha (VanBuskirk) Kruse. He married Mildred Louise Schallhorn on November 19, 1938; she survives him. Louis graduated from Arthur Hill School with the Class of 1933. He then began his 36-year career with General Motors as a Pattern Maker until his retirement in 1977. Louis was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, as well as a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and The Pattern Makers League of North America. Louis enjoyed stamp, coin collecting, and gardening. Louis will be remembered by his sharp mind and great sense of humor. Louis had a wonderful life of 75 years with his wife, Mildred. Also surviving are three daughters: Andrea Kruse, Myra (Roger) Bacon, and Marna Kruse-Cardwell; brother, Richard (Phyllis) Kruse; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Ruth French and Katherine Brennan. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Pastor Paul Hinz will officiate. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. At Louis' request, cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. I have such fond memories of my childhood at Peace and your dad is a part of those memories. I am so glad I got to see him in August. I will be praying for all of you in the days ahead.

Uncle Louie was a real delight to know. Always bright and friendly, with a ready smile. We shared many of the same views and also the hobby of stamp collecting. Nearing the century mark of his life, he was still sharp as a tack and kept his sense of humor. Yoko and I will miss him, but he is in a better place now -- and I'm sure he is tending a well-kept garden there, with the finest of vegetables and the most beautiful flowers in Heaven!
