Obituary
KOLCH, Shirley Maxine (Loibl), of Saginaw, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence with her family by her side. She was 94 years old. Shirley M. Loibl was born October 22, 1918 in Saginaw to the late Leo G. and Anna E. (Breuer) Loibl. She married Marvin E. Kolch on May 28, 1938; he preceded her in death in December of 1986. Shirley graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1936. She worked as an Office Manager for orthodontists: Dr. Oglestone, Dr. Gilmore, Dr. Leddy and Dr. Carey. Shirley volunteered for over 18 years at Covenant Cooper. She was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church and worked on the Altar Guild. Shirley did all the decorating for over 23 years at the church. She loved to travel, tend to her garden and knit. Above all, Shirley loved her family. Surviving are her beloved son, LTC (Ret) M. James (Barbara I.) Kolch of Abingdon, MD; daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Kolch of The Villages, FL, one granddaughter, Connie K. (Michael) Crossland of Aventura, FL; a grandson, LTC Kurt (Sharon) Kolch of Portland, OR, two great granddaughters: Erin (Robert) Shadbolt of Ogden, UT and Kirsten A. Kolch of Portland, OR; two nephews: Robert (JoAnne) Kolch and Denis Kolch. Also surviving is her dear friends, Mary A. Ardern, Bill and Karen Wuerfel and Beverly Sulfridge. She was preceded in death by a dear gentleman friend, Willis Briggs. FUNERAL: Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Michael Hahn will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Shirley will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. I knew your mother because my father lives at McBrite. Your mother is such a sweet lady and will be missed by all that live there. Her smiling face and upbeat attitude made her a pleasure to be around. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow.

Shirley, I'll never forget you, that is for sure. What a great lady, Just went to lunch with you this summer, and had ice cream too. You took my arm to walk , and said" I didn't have to walk slow for you" When I was walking slow for me. You'll be missed Lorna Cone.

Dear Kolch Family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your sweet Shirley. My family lived next door to Shirley and Marv in Saginaw when I was first born. I had the great privilege of seeing Shirley in mid-June when I was in Michigan for my own mother's memorial service in Freeland (Shirley Satchell). We spoke together, hugged, and laughed while reminiscing about some of the stories from Clinton St. many, many years ago. She was such a gracious, lovely woman. I'm sure she'll be sadly missed.

Dear Kolch Family,
My sincere sympathy on the loss of your Mom, Shirley was such a sincere, up, kind lady. In her later years she was a friend of my fathers and a group of friends they formed together. As well as a dear friend to my Aunt Mary and, Jo Rummel my fathers friend. I always enjoyed seeing Shirley and the gang, they had so much fun.
