KNOLL, Michael "Mick" J. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Heartland HealthCare with his family at his side. He was 59 years old. Michael J. Knoll was born on October 7, 1953 in Bay City. He graduated from John Glenn High School, class of 1972. Mick was formerly employed by Bay City Foundry and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He loved to go fishing. Mick also loved playing pool at Rog's where he was captain of his pool league. He enjoyed his cat, Rocky, and was proud of his garden. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Christopher Knoll of Tennessee, James (Mary) Knoll of Bay City; grandson, Tyler; mother, Patricia Pierson of Bay City; a very special friend and his rock, Debra Anklam of Saginaw; two brothers and three sisters: Robert (Bette) Pierson of Bay City, Barb (Tom) Petee of Pinconning, Laura (Reginald) Meirlaen of Bay City, Karen (Eric) Scher of New York, and John (Katherine) Knoll of Okemos. Also surviving are many additional family members and friends that dearly loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Knoll, and stepfather, Hayden Pierson. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate, cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Monday from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Knoll family in care of John Knoll. It is with great sorrow that I write this. I've known Michael since he asked me to be his best man at his wedding some 25 years ago (or more) to Barb (Parent) Knoll. Michael did have a unique way of making me laugh.
One thing Mick was if anything was a surprise and at times he did that with warmth. He was a quiet man who kept a keen mind and love in his heart. My only regret is that over the years, we drifted apart, living our lives as fate determined.
Once again, my condolences to the family, survivors, friends, and loved ones, whatever your relation to Mick might have been. May God find him with the same love & happiness that he shared with others in his travels in this life.
