Obituary
BROGGER, Phyllis of Saginaw, Michigan. Passed away on Sunday morning, June 23, 2013 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre with her family by her side. She was 88 years old. Phyllis Donhaiser was born on August 16, 1924 in Mendon, Ohio, to the late Homer Leon and Ruth Mary (Copeland) Donhaiser. In 1940 Phyllis was chosen as the first Hoyt Park Winter Carnival Queen. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942 and attended Ohio Wesleyan College. Phyllis was employed by the former "Parker Willox Fairchild & Campbell" for over 25 years as a proof-reader and project coordinator. She enjoyed bridge, bingo, golf and was an exceptional pianist. Phyllis loved to read, knit and watch the Detroit Tigers. She also treasured time spent with family and friends and the company of her beloved pets: Libby, Turk and Mable. Surviving are seven children: Denise Miller of Lupton, Stevie (Mike) Sargent of West Branch, Cindy (Frank) Thomas of Grand Rapids, Kevin (Stan) Sobol of Saginaw, Toni DeMatio of West Branch, Frank (Jody) Brogger of Freeland, and Pete (Niki) Brogger of Novi; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild with another expected in September. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew DeMatio, and three brothers, John, Jim, and Bill Donhaiser FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. David L. Parsch will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Phyllis will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to The Friends of The Animal Shelter of Saginaw County. My thoughts and prayers are with Phyllis's family. I knew Phyllis for the past several years as I visited and brought her communion. She was a dear soul and we shared a love of reading. Initially we connected and both looked forward to a new James Patterson book. I know Phyllis has gone on to a better place but she will be missed.
