Obituary
POTTS, Thomas John of Huntley, IL, formerly of Saginaw, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Thomas J. Potts was born on November 17, 1943 to Douglas and Gertrude Potts in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1961 and from Ferris State University in 1967. He married Peggy Matthews on August 5, 1967. Thomas had a long career as a claims adjuster at State Farm and was an active member of the Saginaw Valley Adjusters Association. He had a generous spirit and strong sense of humor, and loved to play golf, spend time with his family, visit Las Vegas, and enjoy University of Michigan sports. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 45 years; daughter Laura Portnoi and son-in-law Howard (Long Beach, CA) and daughter Christine Scheidhauer and son-in-law Bradley Scheidhauer (Arlington Heights, IL); two grandchildren, Eleanor and Jane Scheidhauer, whom he adored; sister Suzanne Potts (Grand Rapids, MI); brother David Potts and sister-in-law Sandra Potts (Saginaw, MI); brother Stephen Potts and sister-in-law Barbara Potts (Indianapolis, IN); sister-in-law Linda Weber (Augusta, GA); nephew Timothy Potts and nieces Stephanie Potts and Alicia Cully. Gathering and Memorial: A celebration of Life Tom's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State). A gathering with the family will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society and/or, in honor of his late nephew, Jeffery Potts, to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Dear Peggy, Chris, Lor, and all of Tom's family, I will remember all of you in a special way in our prayers here at Sinsinawa Mound over these coming days. I would like to be with you to celebrate Tom's life on Saturday and will be there in spirit. I am sure he is rejoicing in heaven with all your family members who have gone before us. Iam very sorry to hear about passing of Tom I worked with him on boards & handbook for the Saginaw valley adjustors association Tom was a real gentlemen I worked for AAA ins and Tom would give me advice on how to handle, certain claims we are going to miss him at the fall s.v.a.a golf outing, what a great person. We were very sad to hear of Tom's passing. We were friends, schoolmates, teammates and neighbors in the old St. Mary's neighborhood. Enjoyed his company at class reunions over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Peggy and family.

Dear Peggy and family: I am so sorry to learn of Tom's passing. Tom and I were great friends in college (both Delta and Ferris). At Ferris, Tom was my closest and most constant friend. Our rooms were adjacent and we ate lunch and dinner together every day. I have many great memories of my days at Ferris. When we weren't studying, we were becoming formidable 8-ball players.
