Gerald Nieman

Nieman, Gerald R. of Saginaw, MI, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the St. Francis Home. He was 69 years old. Gerald was born on December 30, 1943 in Saginaw to the late Russell and Mildred (Warner) Nieman. He was employed by General Motors at the Saginaw Malleable Iron plant until his retirement in 1996. Jerry loved golfing and won numerous awards. He enjoyed boating and fishing. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo (Archie), with whom he made his home this last year, and Annie; two sons, Rusty and Mitch; a sister Mary (Ron) Grubaugh, two brothers, Carl and John (Penny) Nieman, several nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Kirk. Jerry is also survived by Rusty and Annie's mother, Diane Fox, and special friends Billy Helm, Betty Nagel-Cribbins, and Brenda. Jerry was predeceased by Mary Jo and Mitch's mom, Janet Nieman, an older brother Paul and a nephew Wade. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care provided Jerry by the Wheels Unit at Healthsource Saginaw, Heartland Hospice and St. Francis Home. Following Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State) on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Hospice of Saginaw, or the Saginaw County Animal Control.
