Obituary
HEINZ, Edward J. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan, with his family at his side. He was 85 years old. Edward J. Heinz was born on December 31, 1927 to the late Julius and Molly (Wasmiller) Heinz. He married Louella J. MacFarlane on October 5, 1951 in Saginaw; she survives him. After graduating from Arthur Hill High School, Edward proudly served the United States Army during the Korean War in 1952. He was owner and operator of Ed Heinz Nursery and Landscaping, Inc for the past fifty years. Edward's great loves were golf and his Boston Terrier, Tuffy. He also enjoyed playing cards, going north to the cottage, and working in his yard. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Louella J. Heinz of Saginaw; three sons: Ed (Carol) Heinz of Saginaw, Scott Heinz of Saginaw, and Todd (Marlene) Heinz of Saginaw; eight grandchildren: Chad (Jennifer) Heinz, Brandon (Kelly) Heinz, Ashley Heinz, and her fiancée, Drew Davis, Jennifer Heinz, Justin Heinz, Scott, Jr. and (Melissa) Heinz, Lauren Heinz, and Chandler Heinz; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Patricia and Cynthia, and many brothers and sisters. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State). Pastor Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum will follow. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post #439. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., as well as on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Arbor Day Foundation or plant a tree in Ed's memory.
