Telesforo Ramirez

RAMIREZ, Sr., Telesforo of Bay City, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Bay County Medical Care Facility, surrounded by family. He was 88 years old. Telesforo Ramirez was born on May 20, 1924 in Cotulla, Texas to the late Telesforo and Christina (Rodriguez) Ramirez. He married Josefa Ruiz; they were married for 37 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy from November 23, 1942 until July 14, 1945. He was then employed by General Motors, retiring with 28 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 and the Men's Club at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Further, he enjoyed watching Tiger's Baseball and boxing. He also loved going to the casino and going to Hooters for lunch. Surviving are eight children: Telesforo, Jr. (Beatrice) Ramirez of Chandler, AZ, Ramiro Ramirez of Sanford, Irma (David) Zamora of Flushing, Gloria (Pascual) Robles of Free Port, TX, Yolanda Ramirez-Santoya of Bay City, Norma Borrero of Rockford, IL, Rogelio Ramirez of Seguin, TX, Rita (James) Hernandez of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Delores Ornelas of Saginaw; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by son, Carlos Ornelas. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Bay County Medical Care Facility for 11 wonderful years of care. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFM Cap will officiate. Following the service at the church, Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the VFW Post 1859. A private Rite of Committal will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., as well as on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
