Obituary
Friske, David Joseph, of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He was 89 years old. David J. Friske was born on March 27, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John Byrd and Wanda Mable (Wojda) Friske. He married Elinor (Reinert) on November 10, 1945 in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on June 10, 1991. He had been employed by Jasinski Builders for 24 years, and prior to that, he was a carpenter and a tool grinder; he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 25 Union and the Catholic church. In his spare time, he played the fiddle and the accordion, was a regular attendee at events featuring blugrass, French-Canadian or Cajun music, and was a skilled dancer. Surviving are three children, Donna (Ronald) Godo of St. Charles, Raymond (Diana) Friske of Vassar, and Cheryl "Cheri" Friske and Greg Sochocki of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Raymond Clifford (Jessica) Friske, Jesse Friske, Jamie Sochocki, Christine Ely, and Michelle (Robert) Westphal; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; siblings, Claude Friske, Ernie (Germaine) Friske, William (Mary) Friske, Delores (Bill) Gardyfzewski, Leonard (Mary) Friske, Lucille Beyer, Rita (Leon) DuBay, Patricia (Tony) Gronski, and Louie (Pam) Friske; and caregiver and family friend, Marcos DeShone. He was preceded in death by brother, Raymond Edward Friske (1951); mother, Wanda Mable Friske (1976); father, John Byrd Friske (1982); wife of 45 years, Elinor Julia Friske (1991); sister, Lorraine Haskins (2009); sister, Barbara Kersten (2011); and companion, Audrey Welch (2009). FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 7877 Bell Road, Bridgeport 48722. Rev. John Sarge will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Sunday at 4:00 p.m. family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Vigil Service. On Monday morning, David will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 7877 Bell Road, Bridgeport, 48722. Arrangements are entrusted to Deisler Funeral Home.

Rest in peace Mr. Friske. I will always remember "taco night" at Cheri and Gregs, and the late night Euchre games. You were a great card partner and you will be missed.

today we have lost a great man, a guy that we have grown very close, dave we will miss having the cook outs in your driveway, and drinking the eggnog on the holidays with you,it really was a joy being a part of your life,we will miss you very much, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Friske family,, Cheri thank you for letting crystal and i want to thank you for letting us be a part of your dads life.
