McCONNAUGHEY, James E. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 83 years old. James was born on February 13, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late James and Josephine (Gray) McConnaughey. He married Eleanor A. Chinevere on June 13, 1987 in Saginaw; she survives him. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Surviving besides his wife are three sons: Brian, Chuck and Kevin McConnaughey; four stepchildren: David (Maryann), Dale (Linda) and Wayne Chinevere, and Linda (Kim) Grossman; siblings: Mary Alice, Robert and Jean (Emmit). Also surviving are many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a wife, Nora; siblings: Kathryn, John and David. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Michael Korte will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Bay City. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Family c/o Eleanor. Jim was a terrific second dad to me and a grandpa to my daughters. He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by us all. He earned his wings and is now in heaven with our Lord. We Love you Jim and always will.
