Kathryn Butler

BUTLER, Kathryn "Kate" M. of Freeland, Michigan, Beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare. She was 89 years old. Kathryn M. Loth was born on January 8, 1923 in Saginaw to the late Walter W. and Eleanor (Courtney) Loth. She married the love of her life, Douglas Butler on August 28, 1948 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on October 17, 1988. Kate worked for Saginaw Graphite in the 1940's and 1950's. For 45 years, she was the league secretary for the Saginaw Women's Bowling Association. Kate served on the Saginaw Women's Bowling Association Board of Directors for 32 years. She also volunteered for the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame for several years. In 1997, Kate was inducted into the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a member of the Pitt and Balcony Theatre Company and the Merry Wives. She truly loved to sing and enjoyed crosswords and was an avid reader. Surviving are a daughter and a son: Erin (Debra Peven) Butler of Whitmore Lake, Rhett Butler of Freeland; three granddaughters: Kaylin (fiancé Travis Tuttle) Butler, Taryn Butler, Storm Butler; and a sister-in-law, Norma Loth. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Kate was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Walter (Corrine) Loth, Donald Loth, and Barbara Loth. FUNERAL: Kate's funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
