Obituary
SALESKY, Mary J. of Saginaw, MI passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Luther Manor. She was 87 years old. Mary Jane Neiderquill was born on April 16, 1925 in Standish to the late Godfried and Linda (Kraatz) Neiderquill. Mary married Edwin W. Salesky on September 6, 1941 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1994. She loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed baking them cookies. Mary also loved to work at the Days of Discovery Childcare where she took great pride in cooking and preparing food for over 100 children. She also treasured the times she was able to snuggle the babies. Mary was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by her children: James A. (Charlene) Salesky, Thomas J. (Vicky) Salesky, Sue A. (Zeke) Vega; a daughter-in-law, Carol Salesky; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; three sisters: Sandy Brewer, Doris (Waynard) Billeter, and Carol Enszer She was preceded in death by her son, Edwin J. Salesky, and a brother, John Neiderquill. FUNERAL: Mary's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway. Rev. Mark Buckert will officiate. Entombment and committal service will take place at 2:30p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION - Friends are welcome to visit with Mary's family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State) on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mary will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS - Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Words can hardly express the loss that I feel for my dear Aunt Mary. Over that years after my own mom passed away in 1976, Aunt Mary was like another mom to me. Although we didn't get to see each other that often (since I live in California), we would chat on the phone from time to time and were able to visit a few times in person over the years. It meant so much to me that she visited me at my home in California and met my children.
The last time I saw Aunt Mary was when she came with her son Ed and his wife Carol to attend a memorial service that I held for my late brother John in August, 2005. As usual, she was just as sweet and loving as any person could be. She overcame many odds in her liftime and was a loving devoted wife, mother and super grandmother (not to mention a wonderful Aunt).
As much as I will miss her, I am happy that she is no longer in pain or suffering. She will be with our Saviour until the time we will all be united together. My prayers go out to my cousins and all of the other family members and friends who knew her.
I just pray that I will be able to live such a long and heartfelt life as she did. May the Lord be with you and give you peace.
