Frederick McNish

McNISH, Frederick D. "Dick" of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital. He was 97 years old. Frederick D. McNish was born on June 16, 1915 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Arthur C. and Esther (Winter) McNish. He married Ann Elizabeth Holcomb on October 19, 1946 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Saginaw, she survives him. Dick was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1933. Following graduation he worked as a salesman. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 16, 1942 proudly serving his country as a Sergeant with the 8th EVAC Hospital. Upon his return Dick worked as a salesman and then worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier, retiring after 35 years of service. He also worked for the Saginaw News. Dick was a life-long member of Calvary Episcopal Church. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed helping others, loved his family, and to Dick everyone was his family. Surviving are his wife, Ann; one son and three daughters: Judy (Robert) Rowland of FL, George McNish of Saginaw, Brenda Lake of FL, and Geralyn (Arnold) Brady of Brighton; a daughter-in-law, Lisa McNish of Saginaw. He was lovingly known as "Bapa" to his seven grandchildren: Katy (Mike), Josie, Emily, Mary (Mike), Jeff, Greg and Andy; two great grandchildren: Ethan and Amber; one brother, Roy (Delores) McNish of Torch Lake. He was preceded in death by two sons: Richard F. McNish and James R. McNish; four brothers and one sister. FUNERAL- A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State). Rev. Fr. Daniel Cannon will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
