GONZALEZ, Maria "Dee" of Saginaw, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2012 at her home. Age 57 years. Maria Delores Menchaca was born on October 22, 1954 in Saginaw and was adopted as an infant by the late Candelario and Guadalupe Menchaca. She married Martin Gonzalez on December 5, 2003 in Saginaw. He survives her. Dee graduated from St. Mary's High School. She was employed as a Medical Transcriptionist at Saginaw County Community Mental Health; retiring after 15 years of service. She was of the Catholic faith. Prior to her illnesses, Dee enjoyed bowling at Lefevers, crocheting, and shopping. She especially loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Martin; two daughters: Anita (Robert) Zapata, Jr. and Nicholasa Hernandez, both of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Candelario Hernandez, Lazarus Hernandez-Morris, Carolena and Christian Zapata; an adopted sister, Maria "Mary Lou" Menchaca of LasVegas, NV; two stepdaughters: Rosa (Adrian) Martinez and Claudia Violet Martinez, both of Mexico; two step grandchildren: Andrea and Louis Edward Martinez. Also surviving are many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and good friends. Dee was preceded in death by a son, Juan Miguel Trevino, and a best friend, Renee. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home on Thursday August 2, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Deisler Funeral Home.

To Martin, Anita and Nicholasa, and family. I was saddened to hear of Dee's passing. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her kindness and wonderful sense of humor.
Having worked with her here at CMH, I remember what a hard worker Dee was. And no matter how stressed, she was pleasant and thoughtful to everyone. And her laughter, so joyful. I know that you all will miss her laughter, even more so.
She lives on through you, be proud to have her spirit in you and now beside you.

I am proud to say Dee was my friend. She was a kind,generous person.Dee had a lot of tragedy and suffering throughout her life but always had a positive spirit that I admired in her.I will miss her very much. May she rest in eternal peace.

I am so sorry to hear that Dee has passed away. Her sense of humor and witty comments never failed to brighten my day when we worked together at CMH. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and you could see the joy on her face when she spoke of them. My deepest sympathy to all of her family. Rest in peace Dee.
