MEISEL, Robert H. "Bob" of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on July 15, 2012 at Edgewood Assistant Living. Bob was 83 years of age. Robert Herrick Meisel was born on May 5, 1929 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Samuel and Lillian (Golden) Meisel. He married Virginia Mahn on October 29, 1955 in East Lansing, Michigan. She survives him. Bob graduated from Albion College with a Bachelor's degree and from the University of Michigan with a Juris Doctor. He practiced law in Saginaw for 57 years; retiring in 2009. He was on the Board of Directors for St. Mary's of Michigan and the Saginaw Co-Operative Hospital. Bob served as president for the Saginaw Country Club, Saginaw Temple B'nai Israel, and the Pit and Balcony. Surviving besides his wife of 56 years are his children, Mark (Amy) Meisel of Indianapolis, IN, Janet (Patrick) Voisine of Huntington Woods, MI, and Michael (Christina) Meisel of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Alex, Joseph, Corinne, Sarah and Rachel Meisel and Caroline, Robin, and Eric Voisine; a sister, Shirley "Dolly" (Marshall) Bergson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; an uncle, Fred Golden of Sunrise, FL; and a brother-in-law, John (Betty) Mahn of Tyler, TX. Bob's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Edgewood Assisting Living and American Hospice. FUNERAL- In accordance's with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service honoring Bob's life has already been celebrated. Dear Virginia and family all, Bob was a faithful, wise, and generous mentor in countless situations and relationships. As a Daughter of Charity who experienced his generosity during my 19 years in Saginaw, I was saddened to hear of his death, yet confident he is now held forever safe and whole in the heart of Infinite Love. I had the distinct pleasure of working with Robert on several boards and committee's at St. Mary's of Michigan and the Saginaw Country Club. He was a true leader and an inspiration to to me. He will be missed by our community.

Ginny and family - So sorry to hear about Bob. He was a wonderful mentor, business partner and friend.
And of course, also a lot of fun. I'll never forget kidnapping the Wolverine statue from his office and holding it for ransom. I guess that was OK because we were MSU grads/fans and they were at least tolerable (right Ginny?). Bob wasn't so good natured however when we put the Ohio State sticker on his office window while he was away on vacation. I guess that crossed the line.
Lots of good memories - including memories of help and encouragement for a young attorney who didn't know what he was doing. We will miss him.

I had the honor of practicing law with Bob for over 10 years before being appointed judge. In addition to being a knowledgeable and capable academic lawyer, Bob regularly impressed me with his ability at the practical application of the law. On a more personal note, Bob was always friendly and helpful (indeed I regularly sought his counsel and considered him a mentor of sorts), and I enjoyed his sense of humor. Bob's passing leaves a void in our community and our profession, as well as a sense of personal loss. Sincere condolences to Ginny and the family.

Ginny: After 56 years of marriage, nobody knew Bob better than you did. But I am so thankful I got to know and work with him for over 30 years. I cherish the knowledge that he shared with me and enjoyed challenges he presented to me. If I wanted to be sure it was done right, I simply went to Bob. He was phenomenal.
Know that I am thinking of you, praying that you and your family find the peace and comfort in your family unity, and that soon when you think of Bob it will always bring a smile.
