Obituary
NORTH, Mary C. of Saginaw Michigan passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Covenant - Harrison with her family at her side. She was 85 years old. Mary C. Smith was born on October 5, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Frank and Helen Smith. She was married to Vernon Lyle North on February 21, 1943 in Saginaw. He predeceased her in July 1983. Mary was a member of the Saginaw Valley Community Church. She had been a member of T.O.P.S. since 1971. She loved fishing, crocheting and playing cards, especially the game cribbage. But above all, Mary treasured spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are four sons and one daughter: Gary (Sue) North, Lynn Hunter, Gerald (Sherri) North, Dale (Kimberly) North, Mark (Jeannine) North. 122 Grandchildren; two brothers: Gerald (Emma) Smith, Richard (Joanne) Smith; three daughters-in-law: Katie, Kathy, and Shelia North; many nieces and nephews; and her life long friend, Ida Doran. Mary was preceded in death by three sons: Larry, Robert, and David North; two brothers: Robert and James Smith; one son-in-law: Val Hunter. FUNERAL: Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at Saginaw Valley Community Church, 3660 Hermansau. Pastor Richard Sayad will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Gary, Lynn, Jerry, Dale, Mark, and Families; on behalf of our family let me express our sincere sympathy for your loss of Mary. She has been missed since she moved from the Sandhill. As I get older I am on the Sandhill even more now than when I lived there, babysitting my grandchildren, and taking care of mom. I look around and all the memories come flooding back of our childhood growing up there. My daughter married a Sandhill kid so now it's even more a mix of all the old and the new. Mary will be missed as part of the history of the neighborhood. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

The Hunt family wouild like to express out condolences for your loss. We all have fond memories of our years living next to you. It was certainly a simpler time when you really knew your neighbors and did what you could to help each other out.
