Charles Quaal

QUAAL, Charles A. (Mr. Hugs) of Hemlock, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old. Charles was born on August 20, 1928 in Caseville, Michigan to the late Peter Quaal and Johanna (Ern) Heasty. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Marie Siems on November 25, 1950 in Saginaw; she survives him. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #439. Charles enjoyed playing cards, watching the Detroit Tigers and Animal Planet. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson, Scott, car racing. Surviving are three sons: David (Sandy) Quaal of Bridgeport, Gregg Quaal and his girlfriend, LeAnn Lamb of Hemlock, Kevin Quaal and his girlfriend, Julie Waite of Saginaw; a grandson, Scott Quaal of Bridgeport, a granddaughter, Sarah Rohde of Hemlock; and one great granddaughter, Baylee. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Quaal, Sr., and his beloved golden retriever, Kodie. Following Charles wishes cremation has take place and no services are planned. Arrangements were entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
