Obituary
BECKER, Robert James "Bob" of Largo, Florida, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 1, 2012. He was 59 years old. Robert James Becker was born on September 6, 1952 in Cadillac, Michigan to Hiram and Beth Becker. Bob attended Cadillac, Bay City and then Saginaw Public Schools, graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1971, where he was an outstanding basketball player. Following graduation, Bob attended Michigan State University where he proudly graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 1975. He will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, compassionate and much-loved brother and son. "Be kind to one another with brotherly love and honor" (Romans 12:10). One value that represented Bob's life was Ralph Waldo Emerson's belief that to leave " the world… a bit better… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Surviving are his mother, Beth Becker of Gladwin; brother, Hiram John (Laura) Becker of Bend, Oregon; sister, Betsy (Dennis) Greenwood of Freeland; three nephews: Hiram MacLaren of Brooklyn, NY, Alexander of Bend, OR, and Benjamin of Salem, OR. Also surviving are many cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Hiram Robert Becker. FUNERAL: Following Bob's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service honoring Bob will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Ave. Fr. Daniel Cannon will officiate. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association or St. John's Episcopal Church. My condolences to the Becker Family. I have fond memories of growing up in Saginaw and going to school with Bob and Betsy and working at Anderson Pool with Betsy and Hi. Mrs. Becker, I became a teacher and you were, as one of my teachers, an inspiration to me. I am so sorry for your loss and will pray for all of you.
