Alfred Schwartz

SCHWARTZ, Alfred J. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. He was 89 years of age. Alfred J. Schwartz was born on September 20, 1922 in Monitor Township, Bay County to the late Christian and Wilhelmina (Vogel) Schwartz. He was married to Lois Elaine Berry on January 12, 1952 in South Branch, Michigan. She predeceased him in 1986. Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Forward Observer and landed with the Invasion Forces at Normandy during World War II. He had been employed by Saginaw Steering Gear as an Engineer at Plant 3. He was an avid wood worker. Al's life revolved around his family. Surviving are two daughters and two sons; Gloria (Troy) LaLone, Linda (Dale) Stevenson, Alan (Doreen) Schwartz, Stephen (Denise) Schwartz; 12 grandchildren; Jennifer, Paul, Rebecca, Marc, Ty, Christopher, Jocelyn, Audrey, Anna, Kristin, Broderick, and Kathryn; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and a twin brother, Elmer J. Schwartz. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Floyd, Raymond, and Lawrence Schwartz and Irene Loll. FUNERAL- Al's Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Pastor Ronald Wigand will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITIATION- Friends are welcome to visit with Al's family on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. also on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MILITARY- Military Services will be conducted under the auspices of Post VFW #1859. MEMORIALS- In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to honor Al with a memorial to Disabled Veterans of America or Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
