Billy Meehleder

MEEHLEDER, Billy L. of Saginaw Michigan, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper. Age 89 years. Billy Lester Meehleder was born March 30, 1923 to the late Lester and Emma (Rody) Meehleder. He was married to Betty Jean Fisher on November 3, 1956. She preceded him in death on June 28, 1995. Left to cherish Billy's memory are two sons: Billy (Michelle) Meehleder and Lester (Karen) Meehleder; and his daughter: Mindy (Dennis) Wolpert; seven grandchildren: Stephanie and Jordan Wolpert, Matthew Meehleder, Ian Meehleder, John (Dorothy), David (Lori), and Greg (Pam) Gilbert; seven great grandchildren; one brother: Larry (Pat) Meehleder; one sister: Sally (James) Loiacano; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Gilbert, and brother, Bobby Meehleder. Billy had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company for over 40 years retiring in 1981. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Army, Company B, 66th Battalion during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post #439. Over the years he enjoyed watching sports, playing bingo, traveling, and playing golf. Billy was extremely proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and friends. Billy's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many caregivers and nurses at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre, Shattuck Manor, and to the nurses and physicians at Covenant HealthCare for their compassion and care. FUNERAL: Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. C. William Weis will officiate. Military Honors will be provided under the direction of American Legion Post #439 at the funeral home. In accordance to Billy's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at Deisler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
