Kathryn Kocks

KOCKS, Kathryn "Kitty" Mae, of Saginaw, Michigan, a resident of Edgewood Assisted Living Center, passed away comfortably surrounded by her family on Monday, January 23, 2012, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. She was 81 years old. Kathryn M. "Kitty" Gallagher was born on September 16, 1930 in Saginaw, to the late Arthur F. and Dorthea J. (Conley) Gallagher. She married Donald R. Kocks on November 25, 1950 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw. He predeceased her on September 15, 2006. Kitty was a beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. "Da" cherished her grandchildren and treasured the times they were together. She also enjoyed BINGO and playing cards. Kitty was a fantastic cook and loved cooking for everyone, feeding anyone who stopped for a visit. She had a genuine heart of gold and loved all people. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Sheltra (Wilber) Schultz of Freeland, Kimberly (James) Garner of Saginaw, Donald T. Kocks of East Tawas; five granddaughters: Katie, Kelli, Shawn, Amanda and Krystle; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia J. Hume-Stroup. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her favorite niece, Sue Skulley. Kitty was preceded in death by two brothers; John Gallagher and William Gallagher. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Covenant Health Care - Cooper CCU for the love and care they provided to Kitty. FUNERAL- Kitty's Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). John Kehrer will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION- Friends are welcome to visit with Kitty's family at the funeral home on Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS- Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Baldrick's Foundation for Child Cancer Research or the American Heart Association - Michigan Chapter.
