Jose Rivera

RIVERA, Jose G. of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 79 years old. Jose G. Rivera was born on March 16, 1931 in Brownsville, Texas to the late Gregorio and Maria (Garcia) Rivera. He married Beatrice M. Martinez on July 5, 1949 in Saginaw, she preceded him in death on January 16, 2010. Jose was employed by General Motors retiring in 1995 after 27 years of service. He held his catholic faith close to his heart, enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His two daughters and two sons survive him: Vivian Johnson, Judy Rivera, Louis and Reuben Rivera. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers and two sisters. Two sons: Jose Rivera Jr. and Steven Rivera and a daughter, Virginia Rivera preceded Jose in death. FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Reginaldo Salcedo will officiate. VISITATION: Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. also on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
