Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Wellspring Assisted Living. She was 87 years old. Marilyn Hansen was born on October 20, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Richard and Beatrice Hansen. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Gustavus Adolphus University in St. Peter, Minnesota and her Master’s Degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha in Social Work. Marilyn devoted her career to the mental health of others working as a director of Social Work in HealthCare in Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois and South Dakota. She also supported her faith and family through her church through growing their children’s ministry programs, bible study and choral groups. Marilyn loved to travel throughout the world including but not limited to India, China, Alaska, Africa, Europe and Australia. She had a love for the arts and enjoyed painting.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth Ehline, Thomas (Hajdeja) Ehline, Krista (Rick) Belik and her true golden child, Carol Smith; grandchildren: Adam, Daniel, Myles and Milla; sister, Carol Carlson; former husband and dear friend, David Ehline; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson, Jason David Ehline.

In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes cremation has taken place, her family will celebrate her life together at a later date.
