Our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 62 years old. Nancy Martha Kurn was born on May 14, 1963 in Saginaw to Marilyn J. (Braun) and Dr. Samuel P. Kurn. Nancy graduated early from Freeland High School in 1980, she continued her education at Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She received her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. She received her Master of Laws in Taxation from University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and her MBA from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. She was a well-respected attorney in Michigan and Florida and was licensed as a CPA in Michigan. Nancy practiced law for 30 years. She was a member of and past Board Member of the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council as well as the Freeland Area Chambers of Commerce. Nancy had several articles published in Divorce Magazine. Throughout her life she loved her work, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. Nancy loved traveling including international travel through Europe and Canada. She also enjoyed poker, Euchre, riding rollercoasters, visiting Dow Gardens, skiing, antiquing, visiting National Parks, landmarks, museums, attending the Vancouver Olympics and playing laser tag with her nieces and nephews.
Nancy is survived by her brothers: Mark (Ellen) Kern, Jeffrey Kurn and Dr. David (Olga) Kurn; six nieces and nephews: Dr. Heidi, Steven, Michael, Sara, Kristina, and Spencer; aunts, Maryann Preisinger and Lois Braun.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Samuel and Marilyn Kurn; many aunts and uncles.
FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Arlyn Willett will officiate with burial to follow at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. In honor of Nancy, the family requests that you wear a touch of pink, Nancy’s favorite color, to her service.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
