Ricky Murphy

Beloved brother and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday morning, May 14, 2026 at HealthSource of Saginaw. He was 73 years old. Ricky Lou Murphy was born on June 16, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan to Francis and Rose (Nalevayko) Murphy. He graduated from the Millet Learning Center in 1978. Ricky was employed for many years with SVRC, Fairfield Inn, Applebee’s, Pizza Hut, and Zehnder’s Splash Village, retiring from there after 14 years of service.

Ricky was a devoted University of Michigan football fan and enjoyed watching the games each season. He also loved cartoons, car races, visiting with his sisters, attending art fairs, going to the zoo, and taking afternoon naps. Ricky enjoyed Country Western music and attending country concerts whenever he could. He relished the special times he spent in Tawas with Patti. Ricky was especially proud of learning to be independent and confidently using public transportation throughout the community. He had a big heart and had a love for all animals, especially cats. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family.

Surviving are his sister, Patti (Dennis) Jaime; his cat, Lulu, and many extended family members and special friends.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cathy Murphy.

Ricky’s family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Cooper 5 East and Healthsource of Saginaw for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided to Ricky in his time of need. 

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State), on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Pastoral Associate Tori Little will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw.
