Pastor was an extraordinary man! He welcomed us to Ashland almost as soon as we had moved in. He just seemed so full of joy! So much so, that we became a members of his congregation. He inspired countless people and our family adored him. He had a way of calling at just the right time and could always make us feel so much better after having spoken to him. When we moved to Florida, he would (for years) call us periodically and check in on us. It was amazing to me because he remembered so many little details about our children and always wanted to know how they were doing. I couldn’t believe that a man who speaks with so many people and doesn’t get to see us anymore could remember so many things. It just proved that he truly cared for all of the people that were blessed to cross his path. My family will remember him fondly and will never forget his joyous nature. The Grosenbacher family will never forget you.

I did not know Pr. Schiefer, but he sounds like the quintessential servant of Christ that we all hope to be. I am currious what congregation he served in Riley Township, Michigan? I am pastor of St. Andew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riley Twp, but that is only about 30 years old. Was there an earlier congregation? If he was pastor at St. Andrew I am sure people here would like to know about him. May you all have a blessed day as God has blessed Pr. Schiefer. Rev. Ronald Roland

"Uncle" Elmer as we called him growing up was one of those unforgettable people. Thought of him often over the years and kept up with news of him from my cousins Gary, Karen and Carol. I'm sure there was a great reunion in heaven when he walked through the gates. Our sympathy to all. Amy (Roedel) Dettmann

Thanks so much for Pastor Schiefer; if our community had everyone like him the world would be much better
