Maribeth Sanford

Maribeth (Mary) Sanford, 73, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026.

Mary was born on August 3, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Maureen and James Meirhofer. From childhood onward, she carried a deep love for books, music, and the simple joys of everyday life. She was known for her sense of humor and her dedication to friends and family. Mary was always noticed in a crowd, as she loved to joke, dance, and laugh with the people she knew and loved.

A family member shared a story that gives light to Mary’s heart. The story was about the walks they would go on in the park. It was a beautiful day with large puffy clouds in the sky. As they looked for shapes in the clouds, Mary and the family member stated that they were going to be cloud walkers one day. Mary said one time after that they were going to be cloud dancers. One of Mary’s favorite sayings was “It Is What It Is”; she picked that up from one of the aunts in the family.

Mary is survived by her children, Sullivan Alfred-Sanford and David Allen Sanford; son-in-law Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Barbara, her grandchildren (Emily, Aaron, and Easton), 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband S.T. Sanford.
