Celebrating the Life of Theodore "Ted" Edward McLaughlin
Theodore "Ted" Edward McLaughlin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on April 11, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Edward and Josephine (Langenberg) McLaughlin, Ted brought warmth and dedication to everyone who knew him.
On October 25, 1974, Ted married the love of his life, Alfreda Rubalcava. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love and devotion, sharing 51 cherished years of marriage.
Ted was a man of strong work ethic and loyalty, dedicating 44 years as a millwright for General Motors until his well-deserved retirement. Outside of work, Ted found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether he was enjoying a quiet round of golf, cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers, or spending time outdoors hunting. He held a deep affection for animals of all kinds.
Above all, Ted’s greatest joy was his family. His most treasured moments were those spent with his children and grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, rarely missing a sporting event and always cheering them on with immense pride from the sidelines.
Ted's legacy of love lives on through his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alfreda "Freda" McLaughlin; his loving children, Justin (Dawn) McLaughlin and Adam (Michelle) McLaughlin; and his six adored grandchildren, Emma, Tristan, Jaxon, Edward, Oliver, and Jonathan McLaughlin, who brought endless light to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Timothy (the late Karen) McLaughlin and Veronica (Bill) Russell; his dear friend, Larry Keifer; and a wonderful circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ted was gently reunited in peace with his parents, as well as his siblings, Terry McLaughlin and Patricia Polzin.
