Sheila and 48 other women entered Religious Life to become a Dominican Sister right after high school in 1962. We became friends and shared many a class at Aquinas College. The 7 years we shared life in community were special. We, her 7 classmates today send our sympathy and prayers to her family. We thank God for her love of learning, her inquisitive mind, her leadership abilities; she used them well to encourage her students to be their best and do their best for others. Thanks, Sheila. We love you. Mary Ann Barrett, OP

Womansong, the Rape Crisis Center, F.U.S.E., many women's groups & so much more. More than 50 years of memories. Sheila was always at the center of what was important. I remember sharing coffee at restaurants often & being joined by her former students who just wanted to let her know how much she meant to them. Friend, mentor, poet, teacher always compassionate, caring & giving. Sheila may have walked on to a new adventure but I will always feel her presence & hear her voice reading poetry over the phone & her laugh. Safe passage sweet woman.

I met Sheila when I was a student at Arthur Hill. She was a wonderful person and educator. She became a friend to many of us and won't be forgotten.

I have fond memories of Ms. Smith’s English class at Arthur Hill. Sharing with us her love of the written word, a classroom with flexible seating before it was a thing. Such an amazing educator. My condolences to her family and all those who loved her.
