Maria Evangeline Barajas

Maria Evangeline “Eva” Barajas, age 94, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Maria Evangeline Luna was born on February 21, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan to Ramon and Josefa (Martinez) Luna. She was a graduate from Saginaw High School. Eva retired from the Saginaw Public School District after 23 years of service as a teacher’s aide. She was a devout Catholic, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic church. Eva enjoyed crafting, sewing and reading.

Eva married Ebbie “Hap” Barajas on June 10, 1952.  He preceded her in death in 1968. She is survived by her children; Francisco Barajas, Delores A. (the late, Elias) Ayala, Michael (Delilah) Barajas, Angela (Bruce Wood) Barajas–Wood, Christine Barajas and David (Ruth) Barajas. Eva leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Raymond Luna Jr., Rose Moll, Richard Luna, Gloria Cisneros, Robert Luna, and infant Rudolfo Luna; half-brothers, Guadalupe Mosqueda, Angel Mosqueda, Felix Mosqueda, and Paul Mosqueda; grandson, Epigmenio “Ebbie” A. Barajas; and a very special friend, Edward Forge.

Visitation for Eva will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 3:00p.m., until 7:00p.m., with a vigil service at 6:00p.m., at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, Saginaw, MI 48603.

Visitation will continue from 10:00a.m., until the time of Mass at 11:00a.m., on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap, will officiate with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
