Obituary

John W. Schoenmeyer passed away on Saturday evening, September 26, 2026, at his residence. He was 78 years old. John Wallace Schoenmeyer was born on August 15, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan, to George and Betty (Spear) Schoenmeyer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, John worked as a machinist for General Motors, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was also a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Brockway.

He loved camping, spending time up north, fishing with his brothers, and listening to country music. John also had a true passion for classic cars, especially the fast ones. He took great pride in building his 1969 Corvette and could often be found working on cars and enjoying the time spent making them his own. John will be remembered for his playful personality, his flirtatious nature, and his ability to make people smile. He was a lovable guy with a big heart and, underneath it all, a true romantic.

Surviving are his siblings, Charles Schoenmeyer, Dale (Jayne) Schoenmeyer, and Lois (Pete) Heagany; sisters in-law, Sue Schoenmeyer and Patty Schoenmeyer; beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friend Jillian LaRoque-Peterson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Schoenmeyer and his siblings, George Schoenmeyer Jr., Brian Schoenmeyer, and Betty (Craig) Romes; sister in-law, Janice Schoenmeyer; brother in-law, Thomas Jacobi.
