Bohnsack, Robert “Bob”

Zilwaukee, Michigan

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old. Robert Bohnsack was born in Flint, Michigan on November 21, 1943 to Fredrick and Evelyn (Clark) Bohnsack. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1961. Bob proudly served his country with United States Air Force, working on fighter jets, stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base from July of 1962 until his honorable discharge in August of 1966. While out skiing, he met the love of his life, Lynn M. Boelter, they were married on November 13, 1965 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage together. He worked for General Motors, Steering Gear and AC Spark Plug in Flint. Bob proudly served his community as Captain of the Zilwaukee Fire Department, Zilwaukee Councilman for many years, Boy Scout Leader, Lions Club and AA Leader for over 32 years. He was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church for many years. Bob loved to spend time with his family, tend his garden, hunting, fishing, camping and taking road trips.

While out skiing, he met the love of his life, Lynn M. Boelter, they were married on November 13, 1965 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage together.

Bob will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Lynn; children: David (Lora) Bohnsack, Kelly (Kelly) Russell, Carrie Wildfong-Mount and Lindsay (Rob) Williams; grandchildren: Brandi, Haley (Brett), Steven (Katie), Samantha (Kenny), Scott, Cody (Breanna), Dallas (Abby), Parker, Joseph, Brady and Autumn; 17 great grandchildren and one more expected in November; brothers: Edward (Stephanie) Bohnsack and David (Kelly) Bohnsack; sister, Marie Weaver; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Bob was preceded in death by is parents; great grandson, Weston.

Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603 on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. The service will start with a Fireman Walk through presented by the Zilwaukee Volunteer Fire Department. Pastor Mike Leiter will officiate. Military honors will conclude the service under the auspices of the United States Air Force and V.F.W. Post #1859.  

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the Zilwaukee Volunteer Fire Department.
