Joanne Ward

Ward, Joanne L., Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2021 at the age of 94. Joanne was born January 26, 1927 to Joseph and Hazel Jane Dierich and had one brother, Bob (1923-2007). She graduated Saginaw High School in 1945 and married Les Ward in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1999 at the age of 73. She was devoted to her children, Rob (1953-2017) and Jane (1957-present), and grandson, Talon (1985-present), while volunteering many years in the emergency room at Saginaw General Hospital. She was an active member of the YMCA for over 50 years, plus many avid years of yoga and tennis. She enjoyed ski trips with family and friends, sailing the Caribbean with a favorite couple, and loved traveling the world with her husband; winter vacations in Virgin Gorda, BVI; and summers in Harbor Springs, MI (1970-2020). Surviving are her daughter, Jane Ward; grandson, Talon Ward (Rob's son); and family friend, Michael Okelue. They were closely devoted to her care, along with many Visiting Angels, Debbie C., and Amara Hospice. Cremation has taken place, arranged by Deisler Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Amazing Grace Animal Rescue, Saginaw YMCA youth camp, or a charity of your choice.
