Richard Kapp

KAPP, Richard of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 64 years old. Richard Edward Kapp was born on October 7, 1952 in Plymouth, Indiana to Cosme and Victoria (Mendoza) Kapp. He married Roberta Reyes on July 5, 1980; she survives him. Richard graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1970 and then attended Delta College. Richard was employed by the City of Saginaw for 32 years until his retirement in 2003. For most of his employment, he spent as a mechanic for the police department. After retirement, he worked for EZ Pro Delivery for 14 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Saginaw Fireworks Committee. Richard and Roberta were faithful members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Richard served as an usher and on the St. Josephs Isadora's Club. Richard was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to classic car shows and car races. He was also a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Richard was a very humble and loving person, who was always helping others. He loved his dogs and cats, especially his dog, ZuZu. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Roberta; mother, Victoria; three brothers: George, Gene (Pauline), and Joseph; four sisters: Gloria Kapp, Vicki (Carlos) Salinas, Martha Kapp, and Genevieve Kapp. Also surviving are his in-laws: Margo Reyes, Michael (Martha) Reyes, Lisa (Tomas) Olivarez, and Georgia Reyes and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cosme; brother, Jesse; father-in-law, Huberto Reyes; mother-in-law, Mary Reyes; and favorite dog, Jack. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris, O.F.M. Cap will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Rite of Committal for cremated remains will follow Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
